Hiking, conferences, movies and cooking classes are just some examples of Hispanomaya’s weekly activities. Long-term students will have the opportunity to enjoy a range of experiences, as activities are different each week.
Hispanomaya leads two hikes a week from Todos Santos, which serves as a perfect base for hiking into the green Cuchuamatanes Mountains. Two hours from town lies La Torre, Central America’s highest non-volcanic peak, with views of seven of Guatemala’s towering volcanos. Other hikes lead to rural villages, magnificent viewpoints of the area, and Tuj Xiolak, an area of sacred Mayan caves where local shamans still conduct ceremonies and leave offerings for the mountain gods.

Conferences are held weekly when student numbers allow it, and provides the students with the opportunity to learn about the history, culture, and life of Todos Santos and Guatemala.  Topics of Hispanomaya conferences include: Shamanism, the Mayan calendar, the struggle of women in Todos Santos, immigration to the U.S., traditional mid-wifery and local medicinal plants, to name a few.
The school typically screens a film every night, depending on student demand. Three Todos Santos documentaries, depicting life in Todos Santos before and after the civil war, are shown regularily. Hispanomaya also has other documentaries on Guatemala as well as feature films both Latin- and North American.
On occation the school holds its famous "Fundraiser Vegetarian Dinner", where students and tourists relax, hang out, and enjoy some fine vegetarian foods. Proceeds from the dinner go towards "Amigos de los Pobres" a local organization committed to supporting the mentally and physically handicapped of Todos Santos.
